Roberto Calasso, a founder of the Italian publishing house Adelphi Edizioni, is among my favorite writers whom I don't claim to completely understand. I saw one review that described is work as "metaphysics in literature." I don't quite understand that description either, but you know Calasso is onto something, whatever you choose to call it, if you've read The Marriage of Cadmus and Harmony, Tiepolo Pink, or La Folie Baudelaire.
